KALULUSHI MUNICIPAL COUNCIL ATTENDS ORIENTATION ON PHASE II OF THE REVISED CASH FOR WORK PROGRAMME

Chongwe – 6th February, 2026.
Kalulushi Municipal Council participated in the orientation for phase II of the Revised Cash for Work (R-CFW) programme, which was held from 29 January to 6 February, 2026, as part of Government’s continued efforts to strengthen social protection and improve livelihoods for vulnerable communities.
The orientation was convened by the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development and brought together selected personnel from all 116 Local Authorities, who were trained in staged sessions. The programme aimed to enhance participants’ understanding of the revised framework, implementation guidelines, and accountability mechanisms under Phase II of the Cash for Work initiative.
The R-CFW Programme is designed to provide short-term employment opportunities for vulnerable members of society while restoring dignity to them through productive community works that directly benefit local communities. The programme will now be rolled out in all 116 districts for a period of 6 months with beneficiaries earning upto K600 for 10 days of work.
During the orientation, participants were taken through major improvements introduced in Phase II, which are intended to strengthen the programme’s efficiency, transparency, and overall impact.
Key enhancements highlighted included improved beneficiary targeting to ensure support reaches the most vulnerable; digitalised shortlisting and verification processes to enhance transparency and reduce errors; and a standardised scope of works to promote uniformity and quality in implementation across districts.
The revised programme also places strong emphasis on strengthened supervision, and improved payment disbursement systems, with payments made directly to beneficiaries through their mobile money platforms.
In addition, the programme prioritises women, youth, and persons with disabilities (PWDs), reinforcing Government’s commitment to inclusivity and equitable development. The programme also provides a grievance redress mechanism, allowing all community members to lodge concerns related to its implementation.
Kalulushi Municipal Council’s participation in this orientation underscores its commitment to effectively implement Government programmes that uplift communities and promote social and economic resilience at the local level. The Council is expected to apply the knowledge and skills gained from the training to ensure smooth, accountable, and impactful implementation of the Revised Cash for Work Programme in Kalulushi District.
